Letter Project

Before Halloween I worked on this little project.  It is very similar to the blocks I made at the beginning of the year.  The letters were crafted the same way, the same materials were also used.  I did use chipboard letters, but I will tell you that I prefer the wood letters. The wood is easier to use, it doesn't fall apart when you paint, decoupage, and sand!  My apologies for the pictures, I was forced to take a few of these on my phone.

The Q looks a little mod podgy still in this picture, it was not quite dry and in a bright light in this shot but has a more antiqued look now.

New Friends

So yesterday I attended lunch with ladies from ACSC lunch bunch group.  Since this move I really have not got out and met many people but this group really makes you feel welcome.  That's the great thing about military wives, instant friendship....because lets face it, the time goes by quick and it is on to new friendships!

A little more than a month or so ago, I posted a link to an Amy Butler project.  Very cute project that I was diving into right away....or so I said.   The procrastinator in me took over and the project is halfway complete and I wanted to post what I had done so far.  At first this project did scare me a little...you have to stretch and make your own canvas.  Had never made a canvas before but it was super easy and fun to make! The original design had no outline around the lettering.  I thought it needed something to give it a more finished look and used rick rack around the edges.  Will eventually add ribbon as a hanger to complete the project.

is in a week!!!!!!  where does the time go, fortunately I have ordered the turkey and ham from Honey Baked now to shop for all the other goods, with all the active duty and retirees around here, it will be quite a chore!  I have a few crafts to upload. Also Jill is coming this weekend and We have a birthday party for Andy!  It is going to be a super busy week!!!  Tiffany, if you are reading my blog, please notice a new button I have over on the right under sites I love...it is svg files you can download for the sure cuts a lot!!!  she has some super cute stuff, super talented lady!  Will update soon!

November 1st

November 1st, came and went.  I truly meant to post this yesterday but time got away from me!  Jill, my daughter has been waiting on pins and needles for my next post so here it goes.....

I had been wanting to create a halloween tree with various ornaments for some time.  This tree did not turn out exactly how I wanted it to but I am posting it anyway....I also could not get the pictures just right which was driving me crazy!!!   I created the ornaments out of Sculpey clay.  Rolled the clay out, i placed a tea towel over it and rolled again to give the clay texture.   The ornaments were cut with cookie cutters I already had on hand , then baked according to directions on package.  I used stamp pads and a paper towel to put color on the ornaments,  sprayed them with a matte protective finish, then used raffia to make a hanger. 

I placed the ornaments on twigs that I spray painted black and placed in a halloween box.  Would have preferred a bucket but it was short notice.
